Field Hockey Slated for Pair of Games

Erie, PA- Mercyhurst Field Hockey is ready for another week as they take on Wagner College at home on Friday, September 20th at 12:00 PM and Colgate University on the road on Sunday, September 22nd at 2:00 PM. 

Laker Outlook 

The Lakers are coming off another packed weekend of play as they played two games against Saint Francis University, who is ranked 1st in the NEC, last week. The first game against the Red Flash proved to be a tough matchup, as they fell by a score of 0-4. Spirits were lifted in the next game, as they scored their first goal of the season and their first goal as a Division I program. The goal was scored by sophomore Rachel Kosowski in the third quarter. Despite numerous saves and a historic goal, the Lakers fell to Saint Francis again by a score of 1-3. Mercyhurst hopes to feed off Sunday's energy and confidence as they enter a new weekend of opportunities. The Lakers have played well defensively, as they have already racked up 88 saves so far this season. After last weekend, they have an overall record of 0-5, a conference record of 0-3, and are ranked 9th in the NEC Field Hockey standings. 

Scouting Wagner

NEC opponent Wagner College has an overall record of 2-3 and has yet to play a conference game. On September 13th, they defeated Bucknell University by a score of 4-2 and they recently lost to the University of Vermont on September 15th by a score of 0-2. So far this season, Wagner has scored 9 goals and has 27 saves. They are ranked 5th in the current NEC Field Hockey standings. 

Scouting Colgate

Colgate University has a record of 1-4 and is ranked 7th in their conference. Their only win comes from defeating Central Michigan on September 13th by a score of 2-1. In their first game of the season, they lost to NEC member, Rider University, by a score of 1-5. So far this season, Colgate has scored 6 goals and has 54 saves.

After this weekend's pair of games, the Lakers travel to Buffalo, NY to face D'Youville University on Wednesday, September 25th at 5:00 PM.
