Erie, PA.- Last week, Howard University edged out the Lakers with a dramatic last-second field goal, securing a 32-31 victory. This game marked the first Division I matchup for the Lakers as they now look to secure their second win of the season against NEC foe, Robert Morris. The game is scheduled for 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 14

Fight Until the End
In a thrilling finish that had people on the edge of their seats last Saturday, the Lakers came back from a 21-3 deficit with a touchdown pass from
Adam Urena to
Cameron Barmore. Howard's own Ja'Shawn Scroggins led a late drive that set up a field goal completed by Dylan West. In a highly emotional game, the Lakers rallied with significant plays including a successful two-point conversion and a late go-ahead touchdown before the final kick from Howard that sealed their victory.
Key Pieces
The Lakers had key contributors on the offensive side of the ball. On offense,
Adam Urena finished 23 of 34 for 225 yards and two touchdowns. Receiver,
Cameron Barmore finished with two touchdowns and
Chaz Davis caught 3 passes for 53 yards while
Joe Kerbacher grabbed 7 passes for 53 yards. On the ground,
Brian Trobel led the rushing attack with 4 carries for 64 yards. The Lakers led in receiving yards with a total of 225, while the Bison had 164. Howard committed 10 penalties for 107 yards, while the Lakers were only penalized 5 times for 5 yards.
Scouting the Colonials
Robert Morris is looking to get there first win of the season, most recently losing to DII Edinboro 23-21. The Colonials had fell behind 14-0 late in the 2
nd quarter until Anthony Chiccitt found Chaz Middleton for an 8-yard score. DJ Moyer capped a 66 yard drive with a 12-yard touchdown run to tie the contest 21-21. The game ended in dramatic fashion, Chiccitt was hit, and the ball rolled out of the end zone which resulted in the deciding points of the game. On the defensive side, Jamar Shegog and Dee Pierce each finished with a team-high 11 tackles while Lucas Lambert added 2.5 sacks.
Through Two
Through two games, Mercyhurst is averaging 130 yards on the ground, and 246 yards through the air. They've been very efficient within opponent red zones as well, scoring 7 of 8 trips. They'll continue to rely on their deep rushing attack, as well as Urena's ability to spread the ball around to numerous receivers.
Next Game
Following this game, the Lakers will face Montana State on September 21
st at 1pm. That game will be their first-ever game crossing over the Mississippi River. The Lakers will then return home on September 28
th to host Frostburg State, making it their first meeting since 1995.
