ERIE, Pa. – Mercyhurst University proudly announces its exceptional academic performance in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Top Team GPA Awards for the 2023-24 academic year. With a remarkable 3.518 combined GPA across 17 Laker teams, Mercyhurst has achieved the highest institutional average in the conference.
The PSAC Top Team GPA Awards, now in their 13th year, honor the teams with the top cumulative grade point averages in each of the 21 PSAC-sponsored sports. The awards are released annually at the conclusion of the academic year.

The academic achievements of Mercyhurst's student-athletes reflect their dedication and hard work, as well as the support provided by the university's coaches and academic staff. Achieving the highest institutional GPA in the PSAC is a testament to Mercyhurst's commitment to academic excellence.
Alongside Mercyhurst, other institutions also performed admirably in the PSAC Top Team GPA Awards. Slippery Rock had five teams with conference-best marks, while Gannon and Kutztown each had two teams leading in their respective sports. Bloomsburg, Clarion, East Stroudsburg, Mansfield, and West Chester were also recognized with Top Team GPA Awards.
The overall average GPA in the PSAC saw a slight increase this year, with the 2023-24 average at 3.323, compared to 3.302 in 2022-23. This upward trend highlights the conference's collective commitment to academic achievement.
