Erie, PA- The Mercyhurst softball team begins another week of conference play this weekend as they travel to Gannon University on Saturday, April 6th, before hosting Edinboro on Sunday. Mercyhurst is currently 7-16 overall and 3-5 in conference play.
Laker Outlook
Mercyhurst is most recently coming off a double-header split with UPJ. Laker hitters have been heating up as of late, as four hitters now hit over .300 (Madison Fry-Fachet, Neena Pietripaolo, Alexandra Acosta-Reyes, Bailey Cannon). Mikaela Schramski continues to lead the Laker pitching staff, leading the team in innings pitched while holding opposing offenses to just a .212 BA.
Scouting Gannon
Saturday sets the stage for the first meeting between the cross-town rivals. Gannon is .500 on the season, both overall and in conference play. The Golden Knights bring a balanced attack and are a well-rounded team that hits over .300 as a collective group. In last year's meetings, the Lakers took 3 of 4 and will look to do the same this time around.
Scouting Edinboro
The Fighting Scot's are currently 4-14 on the season and 1-5 in conference play. Edinboro swept the Lakers last season but have lost 5 of their last 6. Isabella Becker leads the Edinboro offense with a .429 batting average and as a team, opposing offenses hit close to .400 against them.
Up Next
Mercyhurst will be back in action on Wednesday, April 10th as they host Clarion at 2:30 and 4:30 PM.
