Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Greensburg, PA- Mercyhurst Softball finally found some playable weather this weekend, as they traveled to Greensburg, PA to take on the Griffins of Seton Hill. After an earlier season split, Seton Hill got the best of the Lakers today with a pair of wins, 14-8 and 6-5. Mercyhurst is now 10-21 on the season and 5-10 in PSAC play.

How it Happened:

Game One

Mercyhurst started strong in the first game, taking the first inning lead, thanks to a Brianne Egelston RBI single, which plated Madison Fry-Fachet who singled to lead off the game. The Griffins quickly flipped the script in the bottom half, taking a 3-1 lead after the first inning of play.

The first frame set the standard for the remaining innings, as each team swung it well. In the 3rd inning, Kacie Irwin connected with a one out triple before being driven home by an Eliza Reynolds double to make the score 3-2.

Despite the Griffins extending their lead to 3, the Lakers stormed all the way back to take a 4th inning lead, 6-5. The inning was highlighted by a Bailey Cannon blast, which brought home Madison Fry-Fachet and Neena Pietripaolo, who singled earlier in the 4th.

The lead didn't last long, as Seton Hill regained the lead in the bottom half, and managed to keep it for the rest of the game for a final score of 14-8.

The Lakers smacked 14 hits in game one. Eliza Reynolds and Kacie Irwin each went 3 for 4 from the plate and combined for 7 RBI's. Bailey Cannon also homered in the loss, her 6th of the year.

Game Two

Morgan Hilty claimed the circle in game two, but Seton Hill jumped out to an early 1-0 lead. Francesca Latino didn't let it last long however, as she sent one over the left field fence and scored Marisa Cartellone in doing so to give the Lakers a 2-1 lead.

Brianne Egelston continued her solid day to help extend the Laker lead with a double in the 3rd inning, which plated Bailey Cannon. Seton Hill erased the lead with 5 unanswered runs, which brought the lead to 6-3. Both offenses were stagnant towards the end of the game, until Kacie Irwin hit a two-run blast to bring Mercyhurst within 1 in the top half of the 7th. Thats as close as they'd get though as the Griffins escaped with a 6-5 win.

Kacie Irwin led the Lakers once again, going 3-4 from the plate, which included a late inning homer run. Francesca Latino hit her 2nd homer of the season and collected 2 RBI's.
