Lakers Set for Early Week Matchup with D'Youville

Buffalo, NY. - The Mercyhurst Women's Lacrosse team is set for an early week, non-conference road matchup with the D'Youville Saints. The Lakers are coming off a win over Georgian Court and are looking to start an early season win streak.  

Matchup History 

The Lakers and Saints have met three times, all coming in the past three seasons. The Lakers have won all three matchups between the two programs. A season ago the Lakers won 20-14 in Erie. The Lakers have outscored the Saints 51-27 in their three meetings all-time.  

Last Time Out 

With a win over Georgian Court this past week, the Lakers improved their record to 1-1. After the first quarter, the game was tied at one. The Lakers outscored Georgian Court 5-2 in the second quarter to take a 6-3 lead at the half. Georgian Court fought back and outscored the Lakers 4-2 in the third quarter. The Lakers were able to put the game away with three goals in the fourth quarter. The Lakers walked away with an 11-7 win. Meghan Nasman scored five times in the game, including two in the fourth quarter. Emma Cimino scored twice in the win. The Lakers also got goals from Gabby McGinn, Marlee Antinora, Ellie Schau, and Whitley Easton.    

Stats Leaders 

Meghan Nasman leads the Lakers in goals with six. Whitley Easton, Amanda Bailey, and Gabby McGinn are all tied for the team lead in assists with three. Easton leads the team in points with eight. Paige Maneri is 1-1 in net with a .314 save percentage and 11 saves. 

A Look at the Opponent     

D'Youville is 1-2 so far this season with a win over Post. The Saints are coming off an 18-3 loss to Slippery Rock. Sam Newlin leads the Saints in goals with eight. Sydney Gordon leads the Saints in assists with four. Madison Handley leads the Saints in points with nine. Brinn Stworzydlak is 1-2 in net with a .414 save percentage, and 29 saves.
