3/23/2024 11:59:00 AM

Erie, PA-The Mercyhurst Stunt team welcomed the Tiffin Dragons this afternoon, while also honoring their two seniors, Sarah McMaster and Teddie Dombrowski. In their first meeting, Mercyhurst lost a heartbreaker to Tiffin, 11-12. This time around, the Lakers wouldn't be denied, as Mercyhurst downed the Dragons 14-8. The Lakers are now 6-8 on the season.

How it Happened

Performing round one alone, Tiffin failed to earn a point, but followed it up with a point in round two. Mercyhurst bounced back in round three with a point of their own to tie the game. To finish out the quarter, both teams were awarded a point in round 4 to keep the game tied at two apiece. The Lakers found some breathing room in pyramids and tosses, earning three of the four points in the quarter to build out a lead, 5-3 heading into halftime.

The Lakers carried the momentum over to Jumps and Tumbling, earning points in each of the first three rounds to extend the lead to 8-5. They didn't stop there, as they added an insurance point in the final round of the quarter to take a 4-point lead heading into team routines.

As the two teams entered the first round of team routines, each earned points, which kept the score at a 4-point differential. Mercyhurst came up big in round two, capturing points in every category of their team routine to take a commanding 14-8 lead. As time dwindled, the Lakers held on to secure a big victory, 14-8.
