Tiffin, OH- The Mercyhurst Stunt team returned to action today in hopes of securing a win over the Dragons of Tiffin. Despite a huge second half from the Lakers, Mercyhurst fell short of the Dragons,12-11. The Lakers are now 4-6 overall and 3-6 in conference play.
How it Happened
The Dragons won the toss and chose to defer. The decision proved to be the right one, as Tiffin took a 1-0 lead after the first round of partner stunts. Both teams were awarded points in round two, but the Dragons earned another point in round three to take a 3-1 lead. A fourth-round win for the Lakers then saw the score move to 3-2 as the two teams entered the second quarter.
Mercyhurst carried the momentum into the second quarter, tying the game 3-3. Tiffin bounced back to win the next two rounds of pyramids and tosses to make the score 5-3 heading into halftime.
Jumps and Tumbling began the second half and Mercyhurst came out with some urgency, winning the first point to make the score 5-4. The Lakers strung together a couple more rounds, which awarded them points as they took a 6-5 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Mercyhurst found their footing as the combined routines began, taking 2 points at the conclusion of the first round. Tiffin grabbed two points in the second round and took the lead in round three as the score remained 10-9 heading into the final round. A nail biter of a finish saw the Lakers fall short of the Dragons, 12-11.

The Lakers make another trip to Nashville, Tennessee for a three-game set on Friday, March 15th. Mercyhurst will challenge Drury University, Buena Vista, and Texas Women's University.
