Nashville, TN- The Mercyhurst Stunt team traveled back to Nashville, TN this weekend for another three-game set. They first challenged Drury University, before facing Buena Vista, and Texas Women's University. On the weekend the Lakers went 1-2 to bring their overall record to 5-8.
How it Happened:
Game One
The Lakers got out to a fast start in game one against Drury. Despite giving up the lead after round one, Mercyhurst earned points in each of the next three rounds to gain a 3-1 lead after partner stunts. Mercyhurst kept a 1-point lead after pyramids and tosses, but stumbled in jumps and tumbling as Drury swept the quarter to take a 7-5 lead heading into group routines. The first two rounds of quarter four saw points go to both squads, bringing the overall score to 10-8. The Laker attempt at a fourth quarter comeback fell short in the final rounds as Drury escaped with a 19-9 win.
Game Two
Despite dropping game one on Friday, Mercyhurst responded in a huge way in the night cap, taking care of Buena Vista, 13-0. Winning the toss, the Lakers took an early lead in the first quarter, 1-0. Mercyhurst really found a groove in the second quarter, extending their lead to 3-0 heading into jumps and tumbling. The Laker lead then ballooned to 5 after the third quarter and Mercyhurst didn't leave any doubt throughout the group routines, earning 8 more points while keeping Buena Vista scoreless. The Lakers split the day in Nashville going 1-1.
Game Three
The Lakers woke up with a little pep in their step on Saturday, jumping out to an early 3-0 lead against Texas Women's University. The lead dwindled to just one point after quarter two, and Texas Women's University started clicking in the third quarter, taking the lead, 5-3. Mercyhurst was relentless in the fourth quarter, earning 4 points, but the Pioneers managed to grab a couple as well to survive with a 9-7 win.

Mercyhurst has a quick turnaround and will welcome Tiffin University on Saturday, March 23rd. The game is slated for 11:00 AM at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.
