Erie, PA- Having had a week off since their last game, the Mercyhurst Women's Basketball team now gets set for a pair of crucial games this week. The Lakers will travel to Edinboro University on Wednesday, February 14th, before welcoming Seton Hill on Saturday, February 17th. Wednesday's matchup is scheduled for 5:00 PM while Saturday's is slated for 1:00 PM.
Scouting Edinboro
The two teams met earlier this year in what was an entertaining game. The Lakers got the best of the Fighting Scot's at home, winning 79-71. The two teams are separated by only one game in the PSAC standings. Edinboro is led by Hayley Sims and Morgan Gentile who both average over 15 points per game. As a team, the Fighting Scot's average 70 points per game and shoot over 40% from the field. Edinboro comes into the game with an overall record of 13-9 having won 4 of their last 5 games.
Scouting Seton Hill
Mercyhurst controlled the entirety of the first game between these two teams, but the Griffins came out on top the first time around. Seton Hill is 13-10 overall and 10-7 in conference play as they continue fighting to move up the rankings. The Griffins are led by standout guard, Christiane Frye who averages 18.5 points a game to go along with 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Frye and Danielle Grim for the Lakers are two of the best guards in the PSAC West, so this matchup isn't one to miss.
Laker Leaders
Currently 3rd in the PSAC West, the Lakers post an overall record of 15-7 and a conference record of 11-5. The remaining stretch of games could really solidify the Lakers playoff hopes and they'll look to their leaders to get them there. Bailey Kuhns and Danielle Grim have been the pulse of this team throughout this year. Kuhns and Grim both average double digits and control the front and back court for the Lakers. Mercyhurst has done a great job utilizing every part of their bench as well. Posting a 5.3 scoring margin so far this year, these upcoming games should be great ones.
