Lakers Prepare to Face First NEC Opponents in Three-Game Stretch

Erie, PA- The Lakers will begin their stretch of games at home on Monday, December 30th as they take on Allegheny College at 6:00 PM. They will then travel to North Easton, MA to face their first-ever NEC opponent, Stonehill College, on Thursday, January 2nd at 7:00 PM. Following that game, the Lakers will travel to New Britain, CT for another conference matchup against Central Connecticut State University on Saturday, January 4th at 1:00 PM. 

Laker Outlook 

Mercyhurst's most recent game ended in a heartbreaker, falling to Mount St. Mary's in overtime by a score of 88-83. Despite a 2-8 start, the Lakers have built up the skills and confidence to be successful against conference opponents. Bailey Kuhns continues to be a dominant presence on the court, leading the team in points and rebounds, averaging 20 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. Jenna Van Schaik leads the Lakers in assists, averaging 3.6 per game. Mercyhurst ranks 4th in the current NEC Standings. 

Scouting Allegheny 

The Gators have a 6-4 overall record and are 5-0 in their conference. Emily Lauer leads the team in points, averaging 16.6 per game. Sarah Santicola leads Allegheny in rebounds, averaging 11.3 per game. Bella Antonacci leads the Gators in assists, averaging 5.4 per game. Allegheny College ranks 2nd in the current PAC Standings. 

Scouting Stonehill 

The Skyhawks have a 4-8 overall record and have yet to play a conference opponent. Sharn Hayward leads the team in points, averaging 15.3 per game. Kylie Swider leads Stonehill in rebounds, averaging 7.8 per game. Brooke Paquette leads the Skyhawks in assists, averaging 4.8 per game. Stonehill ranks 2nd in the current NEC Standings. 

Scouting Central Connecticut

The Blue Devils have a 1-12 overall record and have yet to play a conference opponent. Their only win came against Bridgeport in late November. Belle Lanpher leads the team in points and assists, averaging 20.7 points and 3 assists per game. Alonna Sellers leads Central Connecticut in rebounds, averaging 6.5 per game. The Blue Devils rank 7th in the current NEC Standings.
