Erie, Pa.- After a week off, Mercyhurst is set to jump right back into action as they prep for two games this week. The Lakers will first travel to Washington, D.C. for a matchup with Howard before they come back home for Senior Day against Wagner. Mercyhurst is 2-1-3 in their last six games.
Continuing to Build:
Mercyhurst played just one game last week, but it was a key one in reestablishing confidence after they fell at home for the first time in nearly two years. The Lakers tied the conference leader, FDU, on the road 1-1 in a game that featured stellar play from Graduate Student
Chelsea Radicia. She recorded 10 saves in the match and because of her performance, she was named an NEC Prime Performer for the second time in the last three weeks. Senior
Karah Van Horn put the ball in the back of the net for the Lakers.
Lakers Leaders:
Just two players have started every game for the Lakers this season, with Graduate Student
Alyssa Poleski and Van Horn beginning each of their 13 games. Van Horn is tied with Graduate Student
Emily Mijares with three goals in the 2024 season. Sophomore
Camille Bultel is second on the team with two. Sophomore
Madison Sievering has dished four assists thus far, which leads Mercyhurst. Senior
Teagan Mehalko is the only other player with more than one, sitting at two. Poleski has officially registered 1,009 minutes on the pitch this year. She's the only player with more than 900 minutes on the field this year.
Scouting Howard:
Howard currently sits at 4-4-4 through the first 12 games of the season. They've won three straight coming into Thursday and have outscored opponents 5-1 over those wins. Mimi Richards leads the way for the Bison with four goals, but eight different players have found the back of the net for Howard. The Bison have had four different goalies start in net, but Trinity Knox has started eight times and has tallied 34 saves.
Scouting Wagner:
Wagner holds a 3-4-5 record with a 2-1-1 record in NEC play. Wagner has yet to drop a game at home, but lucky for the Lakers, they have 1-4-1 record when they're on the road. In their last five games, they're 2-1-2 with the lone loss being to FDU. Izzy Gomez and Anayah Rivera lead the team with three goals apiece. The Lakers will be looking to get back on track in home matchups when they welcome Wagner on Sunday.
Next Game:
Mercyhurst battles Howard at 1:00 p.m. this Thursday, October 10th. The action can all be caught on NEC Front Row.
