Field Hockey Prepares for Pair of Games

North Easton, MA- Mercyhurst Field Hockey is set to play two games this week as they face Stonehill College and Slippery Rock University. The Lakers will take on Stonehill away in a conference matchup on Sunday, October 27th at 12:00 PM and then face Slippery Rock for their last home game on Tuesday, October 29th at 2:00 PM.

Laker Outlook 

The Lakers have moved up in the NEC Field Hockey standings as they are now ranked 8th in the conference above Merrimack College. With only three games left in the season, the Lakers hope to use this as motivation to capitalize on their last opportunities of the season. They most recently faced La Salle University which proved to be a tough matchup as they fell by a score of 6-0. Mercyhurst totals five goals so far this season. Rachel Kosowski leads the team in goals with two so far. The rest of the goals were scored by Marina Evert, Delfina Magro, and Lola Williams, who each have one on the season. Assists are led by Marina Evert and Catherine Hudak, who also have one so far this season. Jen Kemp continues to lead the Lakers in defensive saves, with five on the season, and Delaney Lentz and Skylar Sarge each have three. Goalkeeper Kayla Desormeau continues to have a successful season, as she has racked up 139 saves so far. 

Scouting Stonehill

NEC opponent Stonehill College has an overall record of 6-10 so far this season. They have a conference record of 3-3, as they defeated Rider, Merrimack, and Sacred Heart and fell to Saint Francis, Wagner, and LIU. In their most recent game, they came out with a win against Sacred Heart by a score of 2-1. Stonehill is ranked 6th in the current NEC Field Hockey Standings. 

Scouting Slippery Rock

Slippery Rock University has a 3-11 record so far this season and is ranked last in the Division II PSAC Field Hockey Standings. Their most recent game ended in a loss against Kutztown University by a score of 2-1. Slippery Rock just recently faced D'Youville University, winning by a score of 6-2.

After this week's games, the Lakers will play their last game of the season against Merrimack College on Sunday, November 3rd at 12:00 PM in North Andover, MA.
