Danielle Grim has been named the PSAC West Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week, according to the College Sports Communicators (CSC). Grim has helped the Lakers build an 11-2 overall record so far this season, which includes a 7-0 record in conference play.
This past week the Lakers enjoyed a 68-58 win over Bloomsburg University, before outscoring UPJ, 61-53. The two wins extend the Mercyhurst winning streak to 11, which is a program record, dating back to the late 1980's. In the victory over Bloomsburg, Grim paced the Lakers with a near triple double, recording 18 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Grim supplements the ability to take a defender off the dribble, with a jump shot the can be deadly from mid-range. Pairing her offensive production, with her efficiency on the glass makes her a nightmare to defend.
Grim made her presence known in the win over UPJ as well. Grim posted 16 points 6 rebounds and 2 assists in the victory and shows no signs of slowing down.
On the year, Grim is averaging 13.3 points per game to go along with 8.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists. Grim also leads the team in blocks and steals so far this year.
The Lakers are back in action on Wednesday, January 10th as they travel to Indiana PA to take on IUP at 5:30 PM.
