Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst Women's Rowing team is primed to start their season in a matchup in which they will host D'Youville University. The event is set for Saturday, September 30th as the team looks to put in another successful campaign.
Similar Success
Mercyhurst has had success specifically against D'Youville last season, in which they beat them on three separate occasions. Between the varsity fours and eights they took them down in the East Regionals, Mid-America Collegiate Rowing Association Championship, and Dad Vails to help them rank 2nd in the East Region coming into the season.
New Faces
The Laker's Women's Rowing adds four new faces on their roster with Katie Kontrick, Holly Purvis, Samantha Vella, and Hildie Wadlington as incoming freshman. Along with new rowers, Mercyhurst also added two new coaches in the offseason to bolster their staff in Mercyhurst alum Nick Hannon and Krista Adams both as assistant coaches.
Back at the Helm
Adrian Spracklen is back as the Director of Rowing, for his 31st season as the head coach of the women's team. Spracklen has been able to keep Mercyhurst Women's Rowing one of the top programs, helping them win their 3rd title back in the 2022 season.
What's Next
After their opening match at Findley Lake, they'll change their focus there the Findley Fall Classic with the Men's teams on October 8th. They'll complete their month of October with Head of the Charles in Boston, MA and then Challenge on the Canal in Geneva, NY.
