Men's Soccer Hits the Road This Week

Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst Men's Soccer team will hit the road for two games this week as they will travel to crosstown rival Gannon on Wednesday, followed by traveling to Seton Hill on Saturday.   

  1. History Lesson 

A season ago, the Lakers beat Seton Hill twice during the regular season, 1-0 and 6-0.  They also beat Gannon twice in the regular season 4-0 and 2-0. 

  1. Flashback 

The Lakers went 2-0 this past week with wins over the District of Columbia and West Chester.  The win over the District of Columbia saw Frank Lovett find Luis Felipe Santos for a goal, and saw Jorge Tallada Torres score two goals, one from Frank Lovett and one from Ben Buckley.  In the win over West Chester, Jorge Tallada Torres scored his third goal in two games.  Ignacio Gallego scored his first goal of the season.  Dylan Sumner scored his second goal of the game on a penalty kick.  Andreas Rossak had two assists during the game.  The Lakers' two wins helped them improve to 6-0 on the season. 

  1. Stats Leaders 

Andreas Rossak leads the team in goals with four, and points with ten.  Dylan Sumner and Jorge Tallada Torres are tied for second on the team in goals with three, and points with seven.  Frank Lovett leads the team in assists with three.  Jamie Tedaldi leads the team in saves with five, wins with four, and save percentage at .833%. 

  1. Honors 

Jorge Tallada Torres was named PSAC West Athlete of the Week for his performance this past week. 

  1. A Look at the Opponent 

Gannon is currently 6-0-1 on the season, coming off a tie to Saginaw Valley State.  James Pool leads Gannon in goals with five, and points with eleven.  Pau Ferrer leads Gannon in assists with five.  Samuel Alarcon is the leading goaltender for Gannon with 19 saves and a record of 5-0-1.  Seton Hill is currently 1-6 but are coming off their first win of the season against D'Youville.  James Aubrey leads Seton Hill in goals with three and points with six.  Julian Marker leads Seton Hill in assists with two. 

Kick-off for the Gannon and Seton Hill games is set for 6 PM and 12 PM.
