Erie, Pa. - Mercyhurst Field Hockey rounds out the month of September with two games as they are set to play a second-straight away game against Mansfield on Wednesday, September 27th, at 3:00 p.m. followed by a matchup inside Saxon Stadium with West Chester on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
Looking Back
Mercyhurst played one game in the past week with the team traveling to face the Kutztown Golden Bears on Saturday, September 23rd. The Lakers were unable to get the win in that one, suffering their fifth loss in a row and their second shutout of the season, 5-0.
Laker Leaders
Jenna Cavalieri currently leads the team in points with 15 with a team-best six goals to her line while adding in a trio of assists. Ellie Schau follows with 12 points, scoring five times to go along with two assists. In the cage, Kayla Desormeau leads the way with 49 saves through six games to go along with 21 goals allowed, claiming a save percentage of 70%.
Scouting Mansfield
The Mountaineers are 5-2 to this point in the season and have suffered losses in two of their last three games. Mansfield has a trio of players with double-digit points with Alex Sterling and Kennedy Stroup both tied at the top with 11. Blaise Cuginin follows with 10 with all of hers coming off of her team-high five goals.
Scouting the Golden Rams
West Chester is 5-2 on the season, winning four of their last five matchups, defeating Slippery Rock in their last game 3-0. Jasmine Miller has been the team's go-to scorer as she has nine goals on the season for 18 points while Paige Wolfe has been the main facilitator with five assists for most on the team. In the cage, Emerie Loftus has seen the most action, playing in four games with 14 saves and four goals allowed.
Next Game
Mercyhurst opens up the month of October with IUP as they host the Crimson Hawks on Wednesday, October 4th, at 2:00 p.m. followed by a bout with Millersville on the 7th at noon on the road.
