Erie, Pa. - Mercyhurst University has named Andy Simon-Wambach Interim Director of Athletics, effective July 10.
Simon-Wambach temporarily moves to the interim role from Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations, where he oversees event operations, facilities, finance, and marketing.
Assistant Vice President for Athletics Bradley Davis announced in June he would be leaving Mercyhurst University to become the next Athletic Director at Division I member Mount St. Mary's. Vice President for Student Life Laura Zirkle is leading a national search to select Davis's permanent replacement. The University has engaged with Mammoth Sports Consulting to assist with identifying the next Director of Athletics.
Simon-Wambach is in his eleventh year at Mercyhurst and is a sports administrator for several teams. He also serves as an advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Before his time at Mercyhurst, Simon-Wambach graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology - Athletic Training and began his career at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater before pursuing a graduate assistantship at The Ohio State University. There he worked as an Athletic Trainer while completing a master's degree in Sports Management.
