lnSYRACUSE, NY - The Men's Lacrosse team defeated #1 Le Moyne on their turf to advance to the NCAA Championship Final.
This will be the team's first Championship appearance since 2013. It is also worth noting that Le Moyne has not lost an NCAA Semifinal game on their field since 2019 against Merrimack.
Quarter One
In typical Laker fashion, Myles Hamm scored the first of the game at 14:31. Liam Bogedain earned the apple.
Le Moyne was ready to battle and scored at 13:04, 11:32, and 2:14.
Shawn Doran had other plans, and brought the score to 2-3 at 2:01.
The Dolphins made it a two-goal game to close out the first at 1:19.
Brett Olney stood in the net to make two saves, and the team was perfect on their clears.
Quarter Two
The first four minutes were uneventful until Quinn Simonson came in hot to score at 11:17.
Le Moyne brought it back to a two-goal lead at 9:11.
At 8:08, Ethan Landymore saw the back of the net to score his 50th goal of the season.
Trailing by one, Colin Schmatz came to the rescue and tied the game, 5-5, at 7:28.
Le Moyne closed out the half with a goal at 6:40.
Olney made four saves in the quarter while the team won three faceoffs.
Quarter Three
The Lakers entered the second half with a vengeance. Kevin Sprague put a ball right past the goaltender at 14:14.
14 seconds later, Stephen Morley scored to give the Lakers the 7-6 lead. Doran claimed the assist from the faceoff.
Le Moyne tied it once more at 10:56.
The rest of the quarter saw no goals.
Olney made a tremendous seven saves, and Doran won two more faceoffs.
Quarter Four
The tensions were getting high as the final quarter started in a 7-7 tie.
Le Moyne claimed the lead at 13:46, but Quinn Simonson quickly retaliated with his second goal of the game to tie it up at 12:32.
Jérémi Phoenix-Lefebvre earned the lead back at 7:43.
Le Moyne struck one more time at 5:33. The game was now in favor of them, 9-10.
Captain, Nicholas Mabe, was not ready for the season to be over and brought the game to one more tie at 4:35.
Phoenix-Lefebvre has been here before and clinched his second-straight game-winning goal at 1:55. The scoreboard read 11-10.
Doran was strong this quarter winning six faceoffs while Charlie Gleason and Steven Katz caused a pair of turnovers.

On the Horizon
Mercyhurst will head to their first NCAA Championship Game since 2013. The Lakers will face Lenoir-Rhyne at Lincoln Financial Field on May 28, 2023, at 1:00 p.m.
