Tucson, AZ – Mercyhurst Softball finishes the DII Cactus Classic, as they dominate Western Oregon by a score of 6-0 but fall to Minnesota-Crookston in the last game, 12-3.

First Game

Mercyhurst returned to the diamond for one more day of competition in Tucson. The game started slow, as both teams had trouble getting on base early. The Lakers broke through in the fourth inning as Cheyenne Hindman touched the home plate to give her team a 1-0 lead. Mercyhurst kept applying pressure for the rest of the game, as they scored five more runs and eventually won the game, 6-0.

Second Game

The Lakers came back for one more game, as they took on Minnesota-Crookston to finish the day. The Eagles began with a punch as they managed to score four times in the first inning.

Mercyhurst cut down the deficit in the fourth inning as they touched home plate three times to make it 7-3. Despite great efforts, they couldn't get back into the game and eventually lost by a score of 12-3.

What's Next

The Lakers are scheduled to travel to Mount Olive, NC on Saturday, March 4th, for another busy weekend in action as they are set to play two games against Mount Olive and two against West Liberty.
