West Point, N.Y. - The Lakers traveled to the Empire State to face the Army Black Knights.
It came down to a nail-biting overtime to determine the game. Army was able to capitalize, making the score 2-3.
How it Happened
First Period
The puck was deep in the Laker zone. Owen Norton carried the puck to the Army blue line and passed it to Eric Esposito. It was then taken by Mickey Burns to score a power play goal at 14:31.
The Black Knights retaliated and scored a goal of their own at 15:27.
Second Period
Army tipped another in to take the lead at 1:27.
With a little over five minutes off the clock, Tyler Harmon had a newsworthy save for the Lakers.
The minutes were counting down, and the Lakers were determined to even the game up. Gueorgui Feduolov and Esposito teamed up to give Cade Townend the puck. The blueliner showed his moves off and fired the puck to the back of the net.
Third Period
The third had no lamps lit, and forced overtime. Throughout the period, Harmon stopped nine shots on net, and the team had a 60% faceoff win percentage.
Overtime
Townend's goal in the second meant overtime was to be played. The extra five minutes automatically secured one AHA point.
Army clinched the winner at 2:10.
Highlights
Esposito grabbed two more points to bring his season total to 23.
Harmon had 31 saves.

The Lakers picked up a sole point tonight in an OT thriller against Army. They now stand a single point behind Canisius with 30.
The top eight teams will make it to the AHA Quarter-finals. It is a best-of-three series that will be held March 3-5, 2023.
Sacred Heart and RIT have already secured spots, but six seats are still up for grabs.
