Erie, PA- The Mercyhurst Softball team released their 2024 schedule this afternoon and hope to take another step forward after a strong 2023 season. Under the direction of Leanne Baker, the Lakers enter the new year after posting an overall record of 34-21, and a conference record of 21-11 in 2023.
To begin the season, Mercyhurst will travel to Cleveland, Tennessee to play a set of games with Lee University. The February trip is scheduled for the weekend of 10th. Mercyhurst will then gear up for their Spring Training trip in Florida. Beginning on March 3rd, the Lakers will spend a week in the Sunshine State battling teams from all over the country.
Later in the month, the Lakers will compete in two non-conference games, as they travels to Notre Dame College on March 13th. The Lakers will then host D'youville College for their home opener on March 19th. The home opener doubleheader is scheduled for 2:00 and 4:00 PM.
Mercyhurst will begin PSAC West play on March 22nd, as they play host to California University of Pennsylvania. Conference play will continue throughout the month of March as the team hosts Seton Hill on March 23rd, and Slippery Rock on March 26th. The Lakers will close out the month with doubleheaders at Pitt Johnstown and Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Mercyhurst gets into the bulk of their schedule in April, as they begin the month with a double header at Edinboro on April 2nd. After hosting Clarion on March 5th, the Lakers then begin a stretch of roads games against Gannon, Cal U, Seton Hill, and Slippery Rock.
Leanne Baker's squad returns home on April 19th and 20th as UPJ and IUP come to town. After that comes a mid-week contest against Edinboro on April 24th, before two weekend doubleheaders to close out the season against Clarion and Gannon.
