ERIE, Pa. - The Mercyhurst softball team hosted Le Moyne this afternoon for game one of their final home series. The Lakers took an early lead from a home run and then the two sides shared leads until things were tied at five in the seventh inning. In the bottom of the seventh, the Lakers capitalized on a blunder from the Dolphins and recorded a walk-off run for the win, 6-5. Notably,
Gabriella DeLuca recorded two RBIs and was the winning pitcher, bringing her circle record to 5-4.
Mercyhurst (9-27, 8-11 NEC) was the first to get on the board. In the bottom of the first frame, DeLuca hit a solo home run to left center for an early lead. This was her seventh homer of the year. In the second inning, Le Moyne (12-30, 9-10) responded with two runs, taking the lead with a a two-RBI single to center field. The Lakers managed to tie it up in their half of the second when
Shailene Riemedio singled to center field. This brought
Alana Stuart home and kept things close.
The fourth inning was massive for the Lakers as they recorded three runs. Stuart scored on a hit by pitch, DeLuca hit an RBI single to left field, and Riemedio stole home. This offensive surge put the Lakers ahead 5-2 at the end of the fourth. The Dolphins narrowed the gap in the fifth inning with two runs. This featured an RBI double and an RBI single. In the sixth inning, Le Moyne leveled the score with an RBI double. However, DeLuca and the Laker defense managed to hold them off and keep the score tied. Mercyhurst was able to walk the game off in the bottom of the seventh from a wild sequence.

Brynna King scored the game-winning run on the throw to lift the Lakers to a 6-5 victory.
