Jenna Van Schaik gave the Lakers positive minutes in the first quarter as well, knocking down a mid range jumper seconds into checking in. Bailey Kuhns once again led the team offensively in the opening quarter, helping the Lakers gain a 14-11 lead.
After extending their lead to as many as 5 in the second quarter, the Lakers saw it slip away, as the Panthers clawed their way back to take a small lead. Mercyhurst responded with under two minutes left in the half, as they then scored six unanswered points to end the half, taking a 27-23 lead.
Bailey Kuhns once again led the way in the half, despite constant attention from the Panthers. Kuhns tallied a team high 10 points. Danielle Grim chipped in with 8 points and 5 rebounds, while Paige Woodford provided sparks when needed as well, converting two long balls in the half.
