Women's Basketball Heads to Ohio for Mid-Week Matchup

Erie, PA- The Mercyhurst Women's Basketball team will travel to Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday, November 22nd to take on Ohio Dominican in another non-conference matchup. The Lakers come into the game with an overall record of 2-2. After dropping two close games to begin the season, the Lakers blew out Lake Erie College and earned a convincing win over Roberts Wesleyan last week.  

Scouting Ohio Dominican 

Ohio Dominican comes into the game with a 1-1 record. The Panthers dropped their season opener to McKendree, before earning a ten-point win over Missouri S & T. Ohio Dominican is led by Senior guard, Gabby Stare, who enters the game averaging 14.5 points per game to go along with 4 rebound per game.  

The Panthers are averaging 57.5 points a game as a team and shooting 45% from the field to start the season. A season ago, the Panthers went 6-21 on the year. 

Lakers Outlook 

Mercyhurst won their home opener before earning their second victory on the road in Rochester, NY. Points have been plentiful for the Lakers so far this season, as the squad averages 71 a game. Shooting over 40% through four games as a team, the Lakers are led by Bailey Kuhns, who's had a hot start. Kuhns averages 16.5 points per game, to go along with 5.3 rebounds.  

Danielle Grim has also stuffed the stat sheet, averaging 15.0 points per game while also leading the team in rebounding. Seniors Lauren Klare and Paige Woodford have also done a little bit of everything for Brook Kohlheim's group, helping the Lakers get back to .500 after an 0-2 start.  

A Look Ahead 

The Lakers will enjoy Thanksgiving after Wednesday's matchup in Ohio. They will then be back in action on December 1st and 2nd as the travel to East Stroudsburg University and Kutztown.
