Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst Volleyball team is set to host a pair of home games this weekend as they welcome in Seton Hill on Friday at 6 PM, followed by Slippery Rock on Saturday at 1 PM.   

1. The Final Stretch 

The Lakers have six matches left in the regular season with four of those matches at home.  They will host Seton Hill and Slippery Rock this weekend, they will travel to Clarion and UPJ next weekend, and conclude their regular season by hosting Edinboro followed by Gannon for Senior Day.   

2. History Lesson 

The Lakers traveled to Seton Hill earlier in the year, and the Griffins came away with a 3-0 win over the Lakers.  That same weekend they traveled to Slippery Rock and the Rock came away with a 3-1 win.   

3. Flashback 

This past week the Lakers played host to IUP and Cal (Pa.).  The Lakers hosted IUP in a match that saw the Crimson Hawks win in three sets.  The Lakers then traveled to Cal (Pa.) for a match with the Vulcans.  The Vulcans won the match in three sets.  In the match against IUP, Kate Hennessy led the Lakers in kills with ten and two blocks.  Corinne Bechtold had three service aces and seven digs, which were both team leads.  Alexa Mitchell had 13 assists.  In the match against Cal (Pa.), Kate Hennessy finished with 13 kills.  Alia Mastromatteo had two service aces.  Kaitlin Murphy led the team in blocks with three, Alexa Mitchell kept her assist number up with 30 assists, and Corinne Bechtold finished with 13 digs.

5. A Look at the Opponents 

Seton Hill is 9-13 this season and 3-7 in the PSAC.  The Griffins are led by Paige Cole, Abby Oesterling, and Catie Flohr.  Cole leads the Griffins in kills with 290, Oesterling leads the Giffins in assists with 548, and Flohr leads the Griffins in blocks with 46.  Slippery Rock is 11-12 this season and 3-7 in the PSAC.  The Rock are led by Erica Selfridge, Jaeden Yost, and Lauren VonderHaar.  Selfridge leads the Rock in kills with 235, Yost leads the Rock in assists with 435, and VonderHaar leads the Rock in blocks with 88.
