10/23/2023 10:00:00 AM

Erie, Pa. - The new week presents a pair of games for the Lakers as the month of October, and their season, continues to wind down. Mercyhurst begins with their final home game of the regular season on Tuesday, October 24th, when they host Slippery Rock at 7:00 p.m. followed by a trip to see the Raiders of Shippensburg on the 28th.

Where they Stand

Mercyhurst currently finds themselves at the bottom of the conference with a record 0-7 in PSAC play, tied with Slippery Rock. Shippensburg leads the conference at 7-1 in the PSAC while East Stroudsburg is 6-1 with Kutztown right behind at 6-2 to round out the top three.

Laker Leaders

Jenna Cavalieri retains her lead for first on the team in points with 15 as she has six goals and three assists to her line. Ellie Schau comes in right behind with six goals and a pair of helpers for 14 points while Lexi Odrobina rounds out the top three scorers with five goals for 10 points. Kayla Desormeau has been great in the cage with 135 saves to her line in 13 games, allowing 45 goals on the year.

Dominant Desormeau

Desormeau led the country in saves a season ago and is making a run to do so again this time around as she currently sits in third behind only Ana Carney of LMU and Avery Richardson of Roberts Wesleyan. Her .750 save percentage cracks the top 15, coming in 15th, showing the Waterloo, Ont. native to be elite across the board in the cage.

Scouting the Rock

Slippery Rock is 3-12 overall to this point in the season with their last win coming against Roberts Wesleyan on October 17th in a 9-0 final. Gianna Conti has been the go-to scorer for the Rock to this point in the year with a team-high five goals while Leslie Colliver follows with four to go along with two saves to tie Conti for the team lead in points. The pairing will prove to be a focal point of the Laker's defense as they hope to slow down the duo.

Scouting the Raiders

Shippensburg has been on a roll of late as they have won 10 of their last 11 games with a 5-1 defeat at the hands of East Stroudsburg being the only blemish during that span. Mercyhurst will look to play spoilers against the Raiders on their own turf, a feat no other team has managed so far this season. Tess Jedeloo has been their top offensive option with 14 goals and six assists to her line for 34 points. Agus Garibaldi has been the go-to facilitator with 11 assists to lead the team and looking to keep the ball rolling against the Lakers.
