Hamilton, NY. - The Mercyhurst Women's Ice Hockey team traveled to Colgate to take on the Raiders in a weekend series. The Raiders came away with the win 7-0. 

How it Happened 

Early in the first period Ena Nystrom was tested as the Raiders were putting shots on the net. After an interference penalty on the Lakers, the Raiders were able to strike first as Dara Greig got them on the board. Just a few minutes later, the Raiders found the back of the net again as Elyssa Biederman found the loose puck in the crowd in front of the net. At the end of the first period the Raiders led the Lakers 2-0. Ena Nystrom had 13 saves in the period. Vanessa Upson put up four shots on goal in the period as well. 

The Raiders started the second period on the power-play and took advantage as Kaitlyn O'Donohoe grabbed the rebound and put the puck in the net. A few minutes later the Raiders grabbed another as Avery Pickering found the top left corner of the net for a goal. Ena Nystrom got tested shortly after but stood tall in the crease. The Raiders came down the ice a few minutes later and added one more as Kaitlyn O'Donohoe grabbed her second goal of the game to make it 5-0.     

Erika Lind came into the game in goal and made a couple of nice saves early in the third period. The Raiders added one more after the media timeout in the period as Danielle Serdachny notched a goal. Just before the end of the game, the Raiders added another to extend their lead to 7-0 as Avery Pickering scored her second of the game.    

Highlights 

Ena Nystrom finished with 15 saves. 

Erika Lind finished with 23 saves.  

Sofia Ljung led the team in blocks with three.  

Marielle Parks put seven shots on goal.  

Next Up 

The Lakers will look to bounce back and come away with a series split tomorrow afternoon against Colgate. Puck drop is set for 3 PM.
