Lakers Secure Sweep Against the Eagles with 8-0 Win

WATERBURY, Conn. - The Women's Hockey team secured a sweep against Post University today, Jan. 5, 2023.

The Lakers dominated posting a score of 8-0.

The team also posted 74 shots on goal which brings the Lakers tied for third for CHA for Most Shots on Goal.

How it Happened

First Period

Alyssa Kawa opened up the game with a goal at 2:13. Alexandria Weiss was on the assist.

Second Period

Almost instantly in the second, at 00:32, Grace Nelles dumped the puck into the net. Liliane Perreault and Weiss passed the puck.

At 5:44 Alyssa Kawa saw an opportunity and capitalized on a goal. Jade Maisonnueve tallied the apple.

Makayla Javier scored her first of the game at 12:18. Chantal Ste-Croix and Thea Johansson picked up some more assists.

Kylee Mahoney shot a puck deep in the net for another goal at 15:03. Nelles and Megan McKay were there to help. The score was now 5-0.


Not even a minute elapsed and Javier scored her second of the night at 16:25. Mary Kromer and Marielle Parks also picked up points.

Nelles rounded out the second scoring her second goal of the day at 17:21. Mahoney and Perreault were credited with the assists.

Third Period

With 4:13 on the clock, Sydney Pedersen scored the last goal of the game securing the 8-0 the win for the team. Weiss and Riley Johnson assisted in the goal.

Highlights

Nelles and Weiss picked up three points each.

Ena Nystrom had a shutout stopping 7 shots.

The Lakers outshot the Eagles by 91.4% with 74 shots on goal and 111 shots total.
