Erie, Pa – Mercyhurst Women's Basketball prepares for another important PSAC West challenge, as they take on Edinboro on Wednesday, February 1st.
 
1. PSAC Situation
Gannon currently sits at the top of the standings with 11-3 conference record. The Lady Knights are followed by IUP, Cal (Pa.), Edinboro, and Pitt-Johnstown, as all these teams are tied for the second spot with 9-5 conference mark. Mercyhurst sits right behind them with 8-6 and is trailed by Seton Hill and Slippery Rock with 7-7 records. PSAC West competition is set to be extremely close, as seven teams are within two wins of each other and only one team on that side has a losing record.
 
2. Individual Statistics
Jayde Boyd leads the charge for the Lakers with 11.1 points per game and is followed by Julia Buchman with 10.8 and Grace Centrulla with 10.7 per contest. Lexi Wagner recorded a very good week as she scored 16 points against Clarion and added 13 in the win against Seton Hill. She did all that on spectacular efficiency, as she averages a team-high 47% for three on the season. Danielle Grim showcased her stellar defense, as she recorded four blocks and two steals against the Griffins on Saturday.
 
3.Team Stats
Mercyhurst's squad averages 72.6 points per game on 43% shooting and 37% for three. They outscore their opponents by 7.5 points on average while forcing 18 turnovers per contest. The Lakers showcase a well-balanced team offense as they record 13 assists per game. Mercyhurst is also a very deep team, as multiple players can come into the game and make a difference. In the Seton Hill game, Lauren Klare came in for three minutes and exploded for four points and one assists, bringing a lot of energy of the bench.
 
4. Rematch
The Lakers fell to Edinboro in their first matchup of the season as the Scots won that game by a score of 60-49. Ava Waid was the only Laker that scored in double-digits as she had 11 points that game. Mercyhurst shared the ball well and generated open shots but couldn't knock them down and Edinboro used that to jump to a slight lead that they held for the rest of the game.
 
5. Scouting Edinboro
Point guard, Rana Elhusseini leads her team with 20.1 points and 4.7 assists per game. She is helped by Hayley Sims with 15.6 points on 40% shooting from the field. Last week Edinboro defeated IUP and Pitt-Johnstown at home and they fell to Gannon on the road. The Fighting Scots are determined to get their 10th PSAC win of the season and climb up in the conference standings.
