ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Lakers traveled up I-90 to face the RIT Tigers tonight on Jan. 13, 2023.
The team claimed the extra conference point in a six-round shootout and finished with a 4-4 score.
How it Happened
First Period
With 3:34 off the clock, the Tigers capitalized on the first goal of the game. They followed with another at 6:39.
Mickey Burns backhanded the puck into the net to open up scoring for the Lakers. He was unassisted at 12:18.
At 17:25 Eric Esposito ties the game up. Tommy Bannister and Dustin Geregach passed the puck.
Second Period
The Tigers took the lead back at 7:02. The score was now 2-3.
Steven Agriogianis tallied a top-shelf powerplay goal at 13:44. Geregach and Gueorgui Feduolov grabbed the apples.
RIT found a way to put another goal on the board at 14:25.
Third Period
The new Captain, Marko Reifenberger, had a wide-open shot at 3:30 to tie the game up at four. Cade Townend had the assist.
Tyler Harmon had a major save at the 9:50 mark.
Overtime
Harmon stopped five shots in the 5:00 of play. No goals were scored forcing a shootout.
Burns was up first for the Lakers in the shootout. The puck was stopped. Agrogianis had the second, and it was good. Geregach followed with a miss. Carson Briere was also denied. Feduolov also attempted but forced round six. Tommy Bannister ended the shootout with a goal.
Highlights
Geregach had two points on the night.
Harmon made 33 saves.
Paul Maust had three blocked shots.
Bannister scored the winning shootout goal in round six.
