Volleyball Falls to Seton Hill in Straight Sets

Erie, Pa.—The Mercyhurst Volleyball team fell to Seton Hill in three sets on Saturday afternoon. The team falls to 2-9 on the season and 0-2 in conference play.

Set one start with both teams trading points. Mercyhurst went up 6-5 on a kill from Kate Hennessy; however, the Lakers allowed a four-point run putting the Griffins on top 14-9. Two late kills from Kylie Schnars and Paige Miller weren't enough to stop the Griffins finishing set one 25-19.

Again, the Lakers fought a hard battle to start the set tying the Griffins at 12. An ace from Alexa Mitchell and two kills from Miller contributed to a four-point run for the Lakers putting them on top 16-13. The Laker defense couldn't find their footing and allowed the Griffins to score eight of the last 10 points and take the set by a score of 25-21.

The Lakers had a slow start to set three going down 10-3 early. Two aces from Zoe Gadomski and a kill from Schnars put them within four; however, that is the closest the Lakers came in the final set of the game. The Lakers dropped the third set 25-11.

Miller led the Mercyhurst offense with eight kills. Freshman, Kaitlin Murphy collected three blocks bringing her season total to 23.

The Lakers are back on the court on Tuesday at home to take on cross-town rival Gannon at 7 PM
