KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Mercyhurst Men's Tennis team got itself back in the win column on Friday afternoon on the road at Kutztown. The Lakers were dominant with nine wins on the day, three in doubles and six in singles play.
Starting with doubles, the Lakers top pair of David Akinpetide/Milan Jankovic cruised to a 6-2 victory while the No.2 doubles tandem of Noha De Sousa Pereira/Ben Davis won by a 6-3 margin. Kiran Richards and Juan Carlos Hernandez Briones rounded out doubles play with a 6-1 victory for the Lakers in the No.3 doubles match.
In singles, the Lakers claimed all six matches by straight sets. Akinpetide won his No.1 singles match by a 6-2,6-0 margin and
Ben Davis cruised to victory in the No.2 slot 6-1,6-2.
Milan Jankovic made quick work of his opponent with a 6-2,6-2 win and De Sousa Pereira continued his strong freshman campaign with a 6-1,6-3 victory.
Hristo Plasheski won his No.5 singles by a 6-1,6-2 score, and
Morris Haab completed the shutout, winning his singles match 6-1,6-0.
The Lakers will return to action tomorrow when they square off with Bloomsburg, match time is set for noon.
