No.7 Men’s Lacrosse Dismantles Davis & Elkins, 23-5

ELKINS, Wv. – The Mercyhurst Men's Lacrosse team capped off the regular season portion of their schedule on Thursday afternoon with a 23-5 victory over Davis & Elkins. 16 Lakers registered points including nine from Ethan Landymore who broke the Mercyhurst All-Time Single Season goals record when he scored his fourth goal with four minutes left in the first quarter. Landymore finishes the regular season with 60 goals, four more than the previous record which was set last year by Caleb Kueber.

The Lakers began the game with nine unanswered goals in the first quarter. Landymore tallied four while the other five tallies came from Bryce Johnson, Josh Michel, Adam Oscarson, Casey Scott, and Antonio Rossetti.

D&E scored their first goal of the contest three minutes into the second quarter to cut the lead to 9-1. The Lakers then rattled off four goals in four minutes courtesy of goals from Scott, Rossetti, Nicholas Mabe, and Patrick Carrozzi. The senators notched their second score of the game to conclude the second quarter scoring. Mercyhurst would lead 13-2 at the halftime break.

Landymore opened up the second half with his fifth and sixth scores of the game. Myles Hamm followed with another Laker tally to extend their lead to 14 two minutes into the third quarter. D&E did manage to respond with two goals of their own, however the Lakers were too much to handle as they would go on to score seven of the games final eight goals. Landymore, Rossetti, Jackson Saulpaugh, and Timothy McMullen all scored in the third while Todd Redman and Adam Oscarson added scores in the fourth quarter.

The Lakers finished the game outshooting the Senators 41-12. They had 39 ground balls compared to just 12 for the Senators. Shawn Doran finished the game going 9-10 from the X while Charles Greenlese and Andrew Vetter each added five face off wins. Brett Olney registered four saves in 30 minutes of action, and Tim Williams saved two D&E shots in his 10 minutes in net for the Lakers.

The Lakers will now wait to see who they will host in the GMAC Semifinals next Wednesday. Mercyhurst has locked up the No.1 seed and will play either Walsh or Lake Erie, who both have games this Saturday.
