Erie, Pa.—The Mercyhurst Baseball team completed a four game sweep of Cal (PA) on Saturday at the Mercyhurst Baseball Field. The Lakers needed to use just three pitchers in the two games and drove in 14 runs in the two games.
Game One (W, 7-0)
Troy Banks opened the scoring in bottom of the second as he blasted a homer to left center. Luke Jackson opened the inning with a double to left field.
After Cal was held scoreless in the top of the third the Lakers tacked on to their lead in the bottom of the third. Surowiec started the two out rally with an opposite field single. Jackson followed it with a walk after a nine pitch at bat. Banks wanted two more RBIs as he doubled to right field to scored both runners. On the very next pitch Jack Elliott blasted a moonshot over the right field wall to make it 6-0.
Mercyhurst added one more insurance run in the sixth inning as Elliott hit second homer of the game to start the inning.
Daniel Thomas pitched his three straight complete game on the mound. He limited Cal's chances and scattered their six hits. He struckout eight in the game and now has 42 strikeouts this season and lowered his season ERA to 2.08.

The Lakers scored their third run of the game as Sobaszek singled up the middle to drive in Philip Ferranti from second base. Surowiec was up next and singled to left to bring in John Susnik from second base.
Sobaszek and Surowiec once again had RBI singles in the fourth inning to make it 6-0 Lakers. After Jackson was hit by a pitch and Cal switched pitchers Banks singled with two runners on and drove in the seventh Laker run.
Adien Kelly went six strong innings on the mound as he allowed three runs (one unearned) on six hit. He struckout nine as he picked up his third collegiate win. Robert Hartman took the ball in the seventh and worked out of a bases loaded jam with two outs to close the game.
