Softball Splits Against Gannon

Erie, Pa.—The Mercyhurst softball team split a non-conference doubleheader against the Gannon Golden Knights.

Game One (L, 4-2)

In the first game of the day the Lakers were doubled up by their crosstown rivals.

The lead did not last long as Gannon answered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the third. The Golden Knights added an extra insurance run in the fourth to make it a 2-1 lead.

Mikaela Schramski started in the circle for the Lakers and went 3.2 innings, she allowed four runs on six hits while striking out two. Kaitlin Hoffner took over on the rubber and hurled a scoreless 2.1 innings of work. She struckout one while getting six groundouts.

Game Two (W, 2-1)

Mercyhurst was first to strike in the second game as Anna O'Geen drove in Hannah Rozanski on a sacrifice fly to left field in the second inning. The Lakers weren't done in the second inning Marisa Cartellone drove in Hindman with a single up the middle.

Gannon scored their lone run in the bottom of the fourth but could generate any other offense.
