Erie, Pa.—After leading for the majority of the first half, the Mercyhurst Women's Basketball team fell 66-56 after a second-half surge by visiting Gannon on Wednesday night.
How it Happened
Gannon got out to an early 4-0 lead, but the Lakers stormed back to tie the game on a Jayde Boyd layup and take the lead on a jumper from Julia Buchman.
Boyd and Buchman would combine for the final nine points of the first quarter as the Lakers led 13-11.
With the exception of about a minute where the teams were tied, Mercyhurst led for the entire second quarter.
Their lead grew to seven points at 2:47, but Gannon scored eight of the final nine points to cut the Mercyhurst lead to just 29-28 after the first half.
The Lakers faltered in the third quarter, shooting a game-low 25 percent from the floor as the Golden Knights outscored them 15-10. Despite Mercyhurst posting a game-high 17 points in the final frame, Gannon also outpaced themselves with 23 points to seal their victory.

Boyd led all scorers with a season-high 22 points, and added six rebounds in the effort. Grace Centrulla had the next-highest total for Mercyhurst with 10 points.
Gannon's Tori Obenrader finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds to post a double-double.
