Erie, Pa.—A pair of nationally-ranked opponents lie in wait for the Mercyhurst Women's Basketball team this week, starting with Indiana (Pa.) coming to town for a 5:30 p.m. tip on Owen McCormick Court.

The Matchup

IUP has been dominant against the Lakers since they first met in 1983, with the Crimson Hawks holding a 30-6 record against Mercyhurst. The two teams met on Jan. 29 in Indiana, and the Lakers fell short 77-58 in their first game back after a 10-day hiatus.

Double Trouble

Redshirt freshman Grace Centrulla posted her sixth double-double of the season Saturday with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Her 22 points nearly matched the 23 points she put up in Wednesday's upset win over Seton Hill. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native has doubled her season total for double-doubles from her 2020-21 campaign of three.

Scouting the Crimson Hawks

Indiana suffered a loss at California (Pa.) two days after defeating the Lakers, kicking off a four-game road trip that will conclude in Erie on Monday. After playing Mercyhurst, the Crimson Hawks will return home Wednesday to wrap up their season series with the Vulcans. IUP won their last two games at Lock Haven, 65-55, and Slippery Rock, 67-58. Justina Mascaro leads IUP with 13.1 points per game, followed closely by Courtney Alexander (12.1 ppg). Kiera Baughman, who has started in just two of her 20 played games, is averaging 10.4 points.
