Cannady Joins The 1,000 Point Club As Men's Basketball Secures Second Seed

Erie, Pa.—The Mercyhurst Men's Basketball clinched the number two seed in the PSAC playoffs along with a home playoff game on Wednesday with a 80-65 win over Slippery Rock.

Quick Facts

Steve Cannady led all scorers with 20 points as the Lakers honored their senior class. Fellow seniors MiyKah McIntosh, Cameron Gross, and Nicholas Lang put 15, six, and five point games.

Jeff Planutis made his second straight start filling in for the banged up Michael Bradley. Planutis had 19 points while pulling down three boards.

The Lakers finished the game with 25 second chance points compared to just 14 from The Rock. Mercyhurst also scored 13 points off turnovers.

Cannady made a pair of free throws in the second half that earned him points number 1,000 and 1,001. He is the second Laker to join the club this season, McIntosh joined the club earlier this season.

In his four NCAA seasons, Cannady is averaging over 10 points a game in 98 games. He also has dished out 240 assists and grabbed 258 rebounds.
