New York, NY – Mercyhurst Men's Water Polo rounds out their 2022-23 campaign in the Mid-Atlantic Championships with a loss. The Lakers faced Mount St. Mary's Saturday morning with Mercyhurst falling behind early and never recovering int he 18-8 defeat.
How It Happened
The Lakers returned to Fordham University for the second day of the tournament as they took on Mount St. Mary's in hopes to extend their season. Mercyhurst started the game slowly, and despite good play by Danilo Vujovic, the Lakers lost the first half by a score of 11-4.
The green and white came out full of energy and determination as they fought hard to come back in the second. Vujovic netted two goals in the row on the power play, minimizing the deficit to five goals at 11-6. However the Laker's effort couldn't get them any closer than that as Mount St. Mary's eventually won the game by a score of 18-8.
By The Numbers
Vujovic led the charge for the Lakers with five goals and one steal, as he was helped by Owen Hardner with three assists. Tony Golin played well in the goal as he recorded 22 saves.
