Box Score Erie, Pa – Women's Soccer defeats Cal (Pa.) by a score of 2-0 to earn another PSAC West win and move to 8-2-4 on the year.
How It Happened
The beginning of the game saw a lot of back-and-forth action as both teams couldn't take the charge on the field.
Karah Van Horn had a good chance to score in 10
th minute of the match, but her shot missed to the right.
After a shaky start the Lakers established themselves on the field as they kept pushing the ball and creating scoring situations. In 29
th minute of the game the Lakers capitalized on the corner kick as
Erika Yancey jumped over the defenders and put the ball in the net for her first goal in Mercyhurst jersey.
About ten minutes later Yancey struck again as she received the ball from
Taryn Baxter and beat the Vulcan's goalkeeper with a spectacular shot to the left. The Lakers held on to their lead and went into the break with two goals lead.
Mercyhurst started the second half strong, with couple minutes on the clock Baxter took a good shot but it was saved. The Lakers kept drawing corners and creating dangerous situations under the opponent's goal but couldn't capitalize.

Teagan Mehalko tried her luck with a shot to the left but missed high. The Lakers finished the game strong, defeating the Vulcans by the score of 2-0.
By The Numbers
The Lakers dominated the game on both sides of the pitch, taking 18 shots with 11 of them on goal. Cal (Pa.) took just four shots through the whole match with all of them on target. Mercyhurst drew 12 corner kicks with many of them turning into scoring situations.
Maddie Elbro had four saves and recorded her sixth straight clean sheet and the ninth of the season.
