Box Score Erie, Pa – Mercyhurst Women's Soccer dominates UPJ in their matchup Wednesday at home, winning the game by a score of 6-0 to move to 8-2-4 on the year.

How It Happened
The Lakers learned from their mistakes in last week's games, as they came out on the field determined to score and showcased a very aggressive brand of soccer. Just a couple minutes into the match Teagan Mehalko received a great pass from Karah Van Horn but missed closely to the left.

Mercyhurst kept applying pressure, and their efforts paid off in 18th minute of the game as Taryn Baxter put the ball in the net after a pass by Mehalko. The Lakers extended their lead in 39th minute when Karah Van Horn beat UPJ's goalkeeper with a strong shot to the left; the goal was assisted by Baxter.

The Lakers kept their starting lineup out there to start the second half as they pushed the ball straight from the kick-off. In 50th minute of the game Taryn Baxter scored her second goal of the match, capitalizing on the chaos under UPJ's goal.

In 67th minute of the game, Mehalko scored a penalty kick with a confident shot to the right. The Lakers didn't stop there, as Anthony Maycen put the ball in the net with ten minutes left on the clock to put the Lakers up by half a dozen. Mercyhurst held on to that lead as they finished the game the score of 6-0.

By The Numbers
The Lakers dominated the game on both sides of the pitch, taking 19 shots with 14 of them on goal. UPJ took just four shots through the whole match while only two of them were on target. Mercyhurst drew 15 corner kicks with many of them turning into scoring situations. Maddie Elbro had two saves and recorded her fifth straight clean sheet and the eights of the season.
