No. 11/20 Men’s Basketball Downs Edinboro on the Road

Edinboro, Pa.—The No. 11/20 Mercyhurst Men's Basketball team rebounded from a tough weekend, displaying an improved defense as they won 95-60 in Edinboro Wednesday night.

How it Happened

Edinboro jumped out to an early lead, but a jumper and three-pointer from Cameron Gross gave the Lakers a lead they would not return at 17:39 in the first half. Mercyhurst strung together a trio of mini-runs to grow their lead to 43-24 at halftime.

The Fighting Scots were held to 28.6 percent shooting from the floor, and did not make a shot from three-range in the first half. Meanwhile, the Lakers forced 13 turnovers that translated into 18 points.

The Lakers kept with their starting five to begin the second half and rolled as Steve Cannady nailed four straight three-point attempts in the first 10 minutes and the lead grew to 30 points. The margin would rise to as high as 39 points after the teams turned to their benches before landing on the 95-60 final.

By the Numbers

The 60 points scored by Edinboro represents the lowest score a team has posted against the Lakers since their 86-35 win over Bryant & Stratton College on Nov. 23. It is the third-lowest score the Lakers have allowed this season, and lowest by a PSAC opponent.

Cannady put up a dominant 19-point performance with seven rebounds to lead all players in both categories.

MiyKah McIntosh added 17 points while Michael Bradley contributed 16 and Cameron Gross scored 10. Bradley had eight assists as well, leading the Lakers to 21 assists.
