Erie, Pa.—Fresh off a 59-52 win over Clarion Monday, the Mercyhurst Women's Basketball team will travel to Kutztown Saturday for a 1 p.m. tip.

The Matchup

The Lakers and Golden Bears have met just 10 times since first playing in 1989, with the Lakers winning four of those meetings. Their last time sharing a court came on Jan. 11, 2020, when the Lakers lost 59-45 at home.

Off the Bench

The Lakers saw production all the way down the roster, with the bench accounting for 15 points in Monday's win over Clarion. That was the highest point total for the bench since their win against Mansfield on Dec. 14. Redshirt freshman Brittini Martin shined off the bench as she scored a season-high eight points.

Queens of the Block

Kutztown leads Division II with 7.1 blocks per game and is led in that category by Casey Remolde, whose 2.5 blocks per game is second in the conference and No. 12 in the nation. Behind her is Sydney Pierson, who is third in the conference with 1.8 per game. Close behind is Mercyhurst's Grace Centrulla at fifth with 1.5 per game, and the Lakers are fourth in the conference overall averaging 3.9 per game.

Scouting Kutztown

The Golden Bears are on top of the PSAC East with a 7-1 conference record (14-3 overall). Winners of their last eight games, Kutztown's last loss came on Dec. 3, when Indiana (Pa.) paid them a visit and tagged them with a 68-53 loss. Kutztown has two players averaging in the double-digits in Rylee Derr (13.9 points per game) and Remolde (11.8 ppg), but Abbey Hearn (8.7 ppg) put up a season-high 23 points her last time out against Lock Haven.
