Bloomsburg, PA—The Mercyhurst Men's Soccer team went on the road for the first time this season to face Bloomsburg, the Lakers were defeated by the Huskies by a score of 2-1.
How it Happened
After back-and-forth play for the first 20 minutes, the Lakers took the early lead. Sean Kerrigan picked up his first career goal. Sidney Warden picked up his first assist of the season on the play.
Just under four minutes later the Huskies responded to tie the game at one. Bloomsburg crossed the ball off a corner kick and the Huskie forward headed past Mercyhurst keeper Jonathan Gomes.
Mercyhurst had three shots in the first half, two on net. Bloomsburg had just the one shot on goal. The teams went to half tied at one.
Bloomsburg scored the game winning goal in the 67th minute as the Huskie player hammered it home after the ball came out of a scramble in the box.
By the Numbers
The Lakers outshot the Huskies 14-6 overall and 5-2 in shots on goal. Mercyhurst earned six corner kicks while allowing three.
Dylan Sumner tallied five shots (two on goal) and Sidney Warden had four shots.
