EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst football team dropped a 17-7 decision to host East Stroudsburg Saturday afternoon in PSAC crossover action.
The Warriors struck first getting on the board with 5:23 left in the first when Gunner Anglovich capped a 13-play, 91-yard drive with a two-yard touchdown run to make it 7-0.
East Stroudsburg added a field goal with 12:20 remaining in the second. The Warriors struck once more before the half on an eight-yard touchdown pass with just 26 seconds to take 17-0 advantage to the break.
After a scoreless third quarter, the Lakers cut into the Warrior lead in the final frame. Laker quarterback Michael Lowery connected with Cameron Barmore on a 20-yard touchdown strike with 9:29 to play to trim the lead to 17-7.
Lowery finished the game 16-of-32 for 155 yards and a score. Chawntez Moss was the Lakers leading rusher with 40 yards on 11 carries.
The Laker defense pitched a second half shutout and was paced by nine tackles by Jacob Holl. Dakarai Washington chipped in eight stops.
The Lakers are back in action on Saturday when they host IUP at Saxon Stadium on Homecoming. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
