Softball Returns to Postseason with Trip to Seton Hill

GREENSBURG, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst softball team will make their first appearance in the PSAC postseason since 2013 when they take on Seton Hill Wednesday afternoon in the PSAC Quarterfinals.

The Games
The Lakers and Griffins will play a best-of-three series with two games on Wednesday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and a third game on Thursday at 1 p.m. if necessary.

Seton Hill won all four games in the highly competitive season series. Mercyhurst is coming off three-straight wins over Slippery Rock to make the postseason while the Griffins closed out the regular season with a pair of wins over Edinboro.

The Laker Offense
Madison Fry has been the table setter for the Laker offense batting .417 with .449 on-base percentage. She has scored a team leading 25 runs and driven in six. Sarah Koscho is the first Laker to reach double figures in home runs since Rachel Bartolomeo hit 11 in 2017 after notching her 11th on Sunday. Koscho also chips in a .330 average on the season.

Allison Dejidas adds a .339 average with eight home runs, 25 RBI and 19 runs scored. Cheyenne Hindman has posted a .373 batting average with 11 doubles and three home runs. Chloe McQuestion and Brianne Egelston are also hitting above .300 with averages of .320 and .314 respectively.

In the Circle
Mikaela Schramski threw a pair of complete games against Slippery Rock last weekend giving her seven on the year and running her record to 7-5. She has a 4.26 ERA in 16 starts with three shutouts and 60 strikeouts.

Morgan Hilty picked up a pair of wins last weekend moving her record to 4-5 to go with a 5.03 ERA. Hilty has 20 appearances and a pair of saves.

Scouting the Griffins
On offense, Jenna Osikowicz leads the charge with a .390 average with 13 extra-base hits, 24 runs scored and 22 RBI. Nichole McClendon checks in with a .356 average and 23 runs scored. Christiana Skrabak leads Seton Hill with 25 runs scored and 25 RBI to go with a .344 average and eight home runs.

Logan Hartman is 11-0 on the year in the circle with a 1.15 ERA and six complete games. She has struck out 45 and walked 15. Lauren Dellett adds a 1.53 ERA and an 11-4 record with a team-high 82 strikeouts.

The Next Round
The winner of the three game set between the Lakers and Griffins will take on the winner of the Gannon/Cal U semifinal on Sunday May 9 and Monday May 10 in another best-of-three series. That series will be played at the campus of the highest remaining seed.
