Softball Drops Two Against Edinboro on Tuesday

ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst softball team dropped a pair of games to visiting Edinboro Tuesday afternoon at the Mercyhurst Softball Field. 

The Lakers fell 10-7 in the opener and then dropped a 7-4 decision in game two. 

The Scots led 2-0 after four and added six runs in the fifth to build an 8-0 lead. The Lakers avoided the eight-run rule with three runs in the bottom of the frame keyed by a Natalie Graff RBI double. 

The teams traded runs in the sixth before Edinboro scored in the seventh to set the final. 

Madison Fry paced the Laker offense with three hits. Chole McQuestion went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Kaitlin Hoffner took the loss in relief.  

McQuestion gave the Lakers thier first lead of the day with a two-run home run in the bottom of the second. Fry singled with two-out and scored on an infield single by Brianne Egelston to extend the lead to 3-1. 

Edinboro answered with two runs in the third. McQuestion drove in her third of the contest to give the Lakers the lead back, 4-3, in bottom of the frame. 

The Scots retook the lead with two in the fifth and added an insurance run in each the sixth and seventh to set the final. 

Cheyenne Hindman finished game two 3-for-4. McQuestion added a pair of hits, two RBI and a run scored. Morgan Hilty took the loss in the circle. 

The Lakers are back in action on Friday when they travel to California, Pa. for a PSAC West doubleheader against the Vulcans. First pitch is slated for 2:30 p.m.
