SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst softball team dropped a pair of non-conference games to host Shippensburg Saturday afternoon.
The Lakers dropped the opener 5-2 before falling 6-3 in the second half of the twin bill.
In game one, the Raiders scored first with three runs in the bottom of the fourth and extended their lead to 5-0 after five.
Chloe McQuestion got the Lakers on the board with a solo home run to lead off the sixth. Madison Fry singled and moved to second on a Brianne Egelston sacrifice bunt. Allision Dejidas doubled home Fry to pull Mercyhurst to within 5-2 and set the final.
Mikaela Schramski took the loss in the circle allowing three runs in five innings of work while striking out three.
In game two, Mercyhurst scored first using an Egelston double, a passed ball and a wild pitch to score in the top of the first. Shippensburg tied the game in the second with an unearned run and took the lead in the third Hannah Marsteller RBI single.
Dejidas gave the Lakers the lead back in the fifth with her sixth home run of the year that plated Fry who had singled to start the inning.
The Raiders answered with a four spot in the bottom of the frame to take the lead and claim the 6-3 win.
Egelston finished 2-for-4 with a run scored. Dejidas finished with two RBI. Morgan Hilty took the loss in the circle for the Lakers.
Mercyhurst is back in action on Sunday with a trip to UPJ for a non-conference doubleheader with the Mountain Cats.
