JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst softball team dropped the opener but bounced back to claim the second game Saturday afternoon at Pitt-Johnstown.
In game two, the Lakers trailed 4-3 after three innings. Allison Dejidas belted a solo home run in the fourth to tie the game.
Cheyenne Hindman gave the Lakers the lead in the fifth with an RBI double that plated Chloe McQuestion. Natalie Graff set the final in the sixth with her second two-run blast of contest.
Graff was 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs scored. McQuestion also picked up a pair of hits with two runs scored. Kaitlin Hoffner picked up the win with 4.1 innings of scoreless relief.
The Lakers scored twice in the top of the first inning with RBI groundouts by Hindman and Marisa Cartellone to take a 2-0 lead.
UPJ would strike for five in the second and five in the fourth to set the final in five innings.
Madison Fry collected two hits for the Lakers in the opener.
The Lakers and Mountain Cats will finish their four-game set on Monday. First pitch is slated for 2:30 p.m. at the Mercyhurst Softball Field.
